Admissibility Hearings

Be Prepared.

Have you received an order to appear?

If the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) believes there's a reason you do not have the right to be in Canada, you may be ordered to appear for an admissibility hearing. If you have received an order to appear for an admissibility hearing, let us guide you through the process and counsel you for the strongest defense.

An admissibility hearing can be held to decide if you are allowed to come into or stay in Canada, if you are a permanent resident or foreign national. Admissibility hearings can be started for these reasons:

  • criminal convictions or proof you committed crimes outside Canada

  • membership in a criminal organization

  • human or international rights violations

  • risk to security in Canada

  • misrepresentation or not being truthful in immigration applications

  • failure to comply with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA)

If you lose your admissibility hearing, you could be deported or not admitted to Canada.
